My name is Cora Pruim. I want to inspire you to research your family history. Your family history can give you a sense of identity and give you a sense of self-worth.
I have been a stay at home mom since shortly after I had my youngest. In those years, I went to college to be able to teach American Sign Language and how to be an entrepreneur. My husband retired from the Air Force and we moved to his hometown.
After my oldest was born, the movie “Pearl Harbor” came out. When I went to visit my brother at college, we watched it. I never really like anything to do with learning about history. I know it seems weird that the movie had an affect on me. The movie made me think about what my ancestors/family was doing during that time. After that, I wanted to learn more about where my family and traditions came from.
I have been researching my genealogy off and on for almost 20 years. It has only been recently that I have done a course and am now a certified genealogist. I have been researching both my parents’ families and my husband’s. I love finding out where our families came from, what they did, what they had to endure and the traditions they passed on to me. I hope to pass these stories and traditions onto my children, grandchildren, and descendants.
I hope to inspire others to look into their family histories through my blogs. I am planning on writing some of my family stories, how-to, tips, product reviews, hopefully in the future do research for clients. I also hope to be able to share my genealogy research of my family with my relatives.
As 2024 is coming to an end, I was thinking of my 2025 goals. One of those goals is to start writing this blog again. I am back. Although that is all wonderful and stuff, the first post is a not great subject. The week before Thanksgiving this year, as we now believe, my grandma […]
Have you ever sat and thought about your dream house? Do you have your dream house? I remember seeing this big white house with a wrap-around porch by my great-grandparents’ house. I have always wanted my dream house to have a wrap-around porch. I could sit on the east side to watch the sunrise and […]
If you could go back in time and sit down to speak with one ancestor, who would it be? Why? What would you ask them? Who? The one ancestor that I would love to talk to is my grandfather, Elmer. Why? God took Elmer to His heavenly home at the age of 44 years young. […]
We all take pictures. Some of us like to be in front of the camera, while others prefer behind the lens. Which do you prefer? I prefer to be behind the lens. What kind of feelings do you have when you go back and look at those pictures? How often do you go back to […]
Have you ever wondered what life was like when your ancestors arrived in America? I believe ancestors from both sides of my family actually knew each other 70 years before my parents married. Those were direct ancestors on my father’s side and distant relatives on my mother’s side. My father’s side came over on the […]
What family favorite meals did you grow up eating? Do you make that meal for your family? If you remember my post Who am I? What am I doing? I listed a few of my favorite German foods. One of them is Knoephla soup. My Favorite German is my favorite above all other cuisines. Both […]
